We built Story North because we believe Northeastern Minnesota is not just a place on a map. It's a critical economic and cultural engine. We chose to raise our families here, and we chose to dedicate our craft to ensuring the region's institutions thrive for the next generation.

Who Can Be Nominated
Anyone who lives or works in Northeastern Minnesota. There’s no minimum resume, no criteria to meet other than this: something about their story deserves to be seen.
We're looking for the person who's doing the quiet, meaningful work, the unexpected work, or the work no one has thought to notice yet.
What Happens Next
Every nomination we receive gets read by us, not an algorithm.
Once the nomination period closes on June 30, we'll take the time to review each story carefully. If we select your nominee, we'll reach out to you first, then to them.
Privacy and Consent
We take this seriously. If your nominee is selected, we contact them directly before anything else happens. We explain the project, answer their questions, and only move forward if they want to participate. Nominees are never surprised. They are always in control. Nothing moves forward without their full knowledge and enthusiastic yes.
How The Story Will Be Shared
We’ll premiere the finished film during a private screening for our subject and invited guests in late 2026. Following the premiere, the film will be shared on the Story North website and on our social channels. Our goal is for this story to reach the people it belongs to: the neighbors, colleagues, and community members who already know this person and the ones who are about to.
